Plan Ahead

Try to organize your event as early as possible so that your first choices of suppliers are not already booked up. During the busy months of the year, from October through to May many companies are very heavily booked.

Winter functions are becoming more and more popular; marquees are now easily adaptable to cope with the wet and cold to provide comfortable environments for your guests. For a stress free event, plan ahead.

Garden functions at home benefit enormously from early planning or even early ‘planting’.

Bad Weather

Always be prepared for bad weather. Organize an undercover area for your guests if you are planning an outdoor function. Even on the most beautiful of evenings a simple Marquee roof or Gazebo filled with fairy lights will create the perfect atmosphere for your event.

Umbrellas and covered walkways will ensure your guests arrive to your function dry and happy!

Space

If you are organizing a Marquee function make sure you have enough space for all the items you need to fit: tables, chairs, dance floor, bar, buffet table, cake table, present table etc. In particular make sure the busy points in the marquee, especially the bar and buffet has good space around them for ease of movement during the evening.

Number of Guests

Request that RSVP’s are returned at least 2-3 weeks before your event, sooner if possible. This is often difficult but it will enable you to notify the caterer and other suppliers well in advance. If it is a formal function you will then be able to work out seating arrangements, decorations can be finalized and accurate costing can be estimated.

Security

*Before the event: marquee hire & contents.

*During the event: on the door if in a public place or your house if everyone is in a marquee.
